Emmaus Greenwich gives homeless people the opportunity to get off the streets and into a structured life within the Community. It was opened in 1994 by HRH the Prince of Wales and has contributed to the reduction of homelessness in the UK over the years.
Companions, as people who live and work in Emmaus Greenwich are called, are encouraged to use the skills they have and to develop new ones. Some look after the home-making, while others work in the workshops restoring or decorating furniture and craft items, or run the shop. The items are sold at affordable prices through the shop.
We aim to generate enough income to create a self-supporting residential community.
If you would like to be a part of Emmaus Greenwich, please do not hesitate to offer your help. Above all, let others know what we are trying to do and encourage them to become involved too.
