Making a donation to our shops

We now have 2 Community Shops, one in Plumstead and another Lewisham. The success of our charity business depends on supporters donating good quality furniture, electrical items, bric-a-brac, books and pictures, which we then resell in our quest to become financially self sufficient.

We are now accepting donations of good quality, second-hand household goods:

• Furniture (beds, sofas, wardrobes, etc)
• Fridges, washing machines & Small electrical items
• China and glassware
• Books, CDs and DVDs & Bric-a Brac
• Clothes
• Musical instruments

From time to time, we may have to refuse donations of particular types of goods depending on stock levels and storage space. Please call the Community on 0208 854 3426 for the current situation.

We cannot accept any of these items:

• Cots (and any other baby items)
• Pianos
• Computer Equipment
• Large Office Furniture

Please note the following restrictions apply on certain items:

• All soft furnishings must meet the 1988 Fire Regulations (see fire label on the item)
• All beds and mattresses must meet the 1996 Fire Regulations (see fire label on the item)
• All televisions, videos and dvd players must have a remote control and scart socket
• All televisions must be seen working when donated/collected
• All electrical items must be in full working order and be safe to use

All items will need to be in good condition and ready for resale. If you are in any doubt about what condition goods need to be in then ask yourself the question “Would I buy it in this condition?” All soft furnishings must have the non-flammable label on them as it is illegal for us to sell them otherwise. Dining-room suites, wardrobes, dressing tables, beds and so on are all acceptable.

We would be delighted if you could drop items off to the Community personally. For larger items please arrange a date for our van collection and delivery service – a 20-mile radius from Plumstead currently applies.
