At Emmaus we’re not just about helping the community; we want to help the environment too.
Our work is based around reclaiming, refurbishing and selling donated goods. The shops not only help to create a self-sustaining community, but also have a major impact on the environment by saving re-usable items, which would otherwise end up in landfill or incinerators.

From July to September 2009, our vans collected 60 tonnes of donated goods and Emmaus Greenwich was able to refurbish and re-use around 80%. On average, we are able to save 16 tonnes per month from going to landfill which is approximately 192 tonnes a year!
